We will travel down Hwy. 416 to LA 1. walking along beautiful False River to Main St. in New Roads. We will end the walk at ST. MARY'S of False River Church on Main St. in NEW ROADS, LA.
We will stop approximately every 8 tenths of a mile for the Station of the Cross, Reflection and a quick 15 minute break.
Group Leaders: Group leaders are there to assist people with keeping us on schedule. It is imperative that you cooperate with the Leaders. Our schedule will only allow us fifteen minutes per stop for the station, a reflection, restroom and water break. We will have 13 groups. You will be assigned to a group and given your group number when you check in. Please check in and get your group number when you arrive either at Immaculate Conception Church parking lot at St. Mary's Parish Hall parking lot before loading the bus. Leaders will be stationed in front of IMMACULATE CONCEPTION Church next to the group number sign. Please check in with your Team Leader and remain with your group to enable an organized start. If you purchased a T-Shirt and did not pick it up prior to the walk your Team Leader will have those.
Police and Emergency Services: We will be escorted by the Pointe Coupee Sheriffs Department. Should anyone need assistance we will have trained responders and cell phones to get needed medical assistance. Please carry the emergency sheet with you that day.
Water will be provided for the walk. We ask that you make every conscious effort not to litter the streets and especially the yards of the people who so graciously allowed us to use their property for our stops. Trash cans will be located on the trailers with the Port-O-Potties.
Lunch provided will be Tuna and Peanut Butter Sandwiches, chips and a drink since Good Friday is a fast day. If you have special dietary needs feel free to bring a bag lunch or snacks. If a few people would like to donate Apples, Oranges, Grapes, Peanut butter Crackers, or Cheese Crackers for snacks please contact Connie Carrier..
Transportation for People Needing Assistance during the Walk: We will have a couple of vehicles that will assist walkers who may need a break or are having problems completing the walk due to unforeseen circumstances.
Cell phones: We are asking that if you are going to carry a cell phone that you put the phone on silent and only use it in the case of an emergency. Please tell family and friends to call only if there is an emergency. This is meant to be a day of prayer and it is a distraction to you and those around you when people are talking on the phone.
